False Eyelash Application: 5 Tutorials | Looking for a good step by step video or tutorial for beginners to teach you how to apply false eyelashes? We've got you covered. We’ve rounded up 5 fabulous how-to tutorials that are loaded with different application tips, tricks, and hacks. We’ve included our favorite brands – full and individual – as well as some pointers on how to remove false lashes in a flash!

If you love the sexy look of dramatic fake eyelashes, but haven’t got the slightest idea how to apply false eyelashes, these tutorials are for you! They will teach you how to apply false eyelashes PROPERLY, give you recommendations on the best high end and drugstore brands, and show you how to remove and store false eyelashes to help you get the biggest bang for your buck.

If you only have time to watch one tutorial, I highly recommend watching the first one. Jaclyn does such a good job of breaking down the process so you won’t feel overwhelmed, and I am IN LOVE with the Strike a Pose Velour Lashes she recommends.

Velour lashes are a bit pricey, but they look amazing and many people have told me they last FOREVER. Velour makes tons of styles and the stripe is easy for beginners to use. Definitely check them out!

1. How to Apply False Lashes by Jaclyn Hill

If you’re new to the world of false lashes (like me!), this tutorial will not only teach you all of the tips and tricks you need to learn how to apply false eyelashes, but it will also make you fall in love with Strike a Pose Velour Lashes. Mine arrived in the mail yesterday and I love how natural (and sexy!) they look!

All Velour lashes are made from humanely collected mink on a cotton thread strip, including the Strike a Pose lashes style. The strip is breathable and easy to wear, and the mink looks ultra thick, full, lush and most importantly–REAL. These beautiful, feathery lashes last through multiple applications (up to 30!) and go on easy. She uses Duo lash adhesive to keep them in place all day long.

Velour lashes are so natural looking that you don’t even need a brush to separate lashes and keep them from getting the not-so-cute  “spider leg” effect. These give you the dramatic fake eyelashes look while STILL managing to look natural (only longer, thicker and more glamorous) and are perfect for daily wear!

2. How to Apply False Eyelashes by From Head to Toe

If you can’t afford expensive lashes and want recommendations on cheaper alternatives, this tutorial is for you. Jen uses the Darkness False Eyelashes K-ma 5, which are relatively cheap as far as fake lashes go, and I think they look fantastic!

She recommends the criss-cross lashes which have a more natural effect, particularly for first-time false lash users. She also recommends the Duo Dark Tone lash adhesive, which helps blend lashes in with your eyeliner. Darkness makes many styles of lashes including spiky and dramatic fake eyelashes, which she explores throughout the tutorial.

Jen recommends using a little tackle box container to store your lashes or a specially made false lash storage box. The pink one she shows in the tutorial is darling and you can find a similar version on Amazon.

3. How To Apply False Lashes: Strip & Individuals by Nicole Guerriero

If you’re looking for more dramatic fake eyelashes and/or want to know how to apply false eyelashes to your lower lash line, Nicole has you covered. She uses the Doll Me Up Velour Lashes (also available here) on top and the Cluster-Holic Velour Lashes on the bottom (also available here). She takes you through the steps how to apply individual false eyelashes on yourself.

Nicole recommends using tweezers to apply false lashes and giving a good 5-10 seconds for the glue to set up before applying the lash. She also warns that lashes are ADDICTING! So once you start, it’s hard to stop wearing false eyelashes.

4. Single, Strip and Lower Lashes + Removing & Double Stacking! by Chloe Morello

This tutorial is LOADED with lots of great tips and tricks for applying different kinds of lashes, as well as some great techniques to make them look more or less dramatic (we aren’t ALL aiming for the dramatic fake eyelashes look!). I especially like how Chloe applies glue to her false eyelashes – it’s so much easier to get an even application using her method!

She uses the Ardell False Strip Lashes, which are some of the best drugstore false lashes out there. She also recommends NYX The Curve Liner, which works very well with strip false eyelashes on a dark strip (as opposed to clear). For newbies, adding eyeliner can help make your lashes blend in better. Eyeliner will also hide any gaps between false eyelashes and your lash line.

5. False Eyelashes 101: Select, Apply, Remove, Clean by emilynoel83

For the tutorial she uses the Salon Perfect Perfectly Glamorous False Lashes which are so affordable! She also uses plain cotton swabs and Almay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. The glue she uses is Revlon Precision Clear Lash Glue, which is also very easy to find and affordable.

One of the things that always frightened me the most about applying false eyelashes was the idea of REMOVING them, but after watching this tutorial, I realized it is a quick and painless process if you use the right remover. Skip ahead to the 7:30 mark and see for yourself! Oh, and if you want a recommendation on a good oil-free eye makeup remover (although she uses Almay in this tutorial), I quite like the Neutrogena Cleansing Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover.
